I Look Like A Chav!?
I have a 21-year-old cousin that I'm close with, who moved from Staten Island, NY to Liverpool when she was 5. She picked me up at the airport, and the first thing she said to me was "Good god, you look like a chav." When I asked her if she meant my physical features or the way I was dressed, she said it was the way I was dressed. I remember I had a ponytail (like my avatar), big silver hoop earrings, and a Juicy sweatsuit (I know, they're "out", but it was the comfiest thing I could wear on an airplane). I had Converse All-Star shoes, Burberry luggage, and not too much makeup. I asked her to explain, and she was like, "You should probably wear something else, some people judge a lot." What the hell is a chav? Doesn't that mean "sexist"? Like "Chavinistic pig"? And why is it bad if I look l ike one?
CHAV - Council House and Violent
It kinda means tacky? It means you look like you came off a council estate (please don't take offence anyone! - I know lots of nice people from council estates!)
But if it is what you want to wear then wear it! It doesn't matter that much! Just don't adopt the CHAV face! (Like you are chewing a wasp when you look at anyone who isn't your friend!) (Chewing gum with your mouth open has a similar effect).
