How exactly do they ship dogs in planes?
I'm having my puppy sent to me via northwest airlines on thursday. he's flying from iowa to new jersey, and with the layover it will be about 8 hours total travel for him. he's not flying with a passenger, so he's logically cargo. he's about 4 pounds and will be sent in a travel crate.
how exactly do they set up dogs for flights? obviously they can't go in the same cabin as regular luggage. do they have a live animal cargo area? and do i just pick him up from the cargo area when he lands? do the luggage handlers deal with him and the travel crate will be put on the luggage trolley in the airport?
i'm very concerned about his flight, if u haven't noticed lol.
and if anyone can tell me their experience with dogs during flights, it'd be greatly appreciated.
i did some research and i know as a matter of fact that live animals cannot freeze to death in a plane. i found out they ARE in a live animal cargo area. so the person who said that is full of baloney.
they put the dog in the bottom of the plane in a separate compartment next to the luggage. good luck
