If I buy real LV luggage for a trip to Barbados, will the airport ruin it like my other sets?

It seems that all the other luggage I have bought in the past is...well, quite frankly, disposable after a few uses at the airport. I intend to have some bags checked and a carryon and I want it to all match. But if they are just going to throw it around and it won't hold up I think it's a waste and I should just get a nice Chanel bag or something useful like jewelry for my money....any advice?
