Things you can bring on a plane in your carry-on?

I'm about to go to Kentucky and visit my grandparents.

I recently got a rely expensive CHI hair straightener and i don't want it to get stolen in my bag, am I aloud to take it in my carry-on?

Also my make up last time i flew i didn't wear make up so i didn't have any what are and what aren't u aloud to take

In my make up bag i have
Power
Powder Brush
Liquid foundation(which i know i cant take, or can i since its small)
chap stick (not in liquid form)
mascara
eyeliner
eye brow tweezers

can i bring any of that or should i just put it in my luggage bag but the straightener i rely want to put in my carry on because my friend has had her nice stuff stole out of her bag b4 and one of the items was her straightener

i am flying south west and i know that they are good i always fly with them but i don't want to take ANY chances because my grandma just got it for me for my birthday and its $150 so i CAN'T have it stolen

Curling irons/hair straighteners are not listed in the TSA or FAA's list of prohibited items. In fact, the FAA site specifically list some butane heated curling irons as being permitted. Bring it with you in your carry-on.

Powdered makeup and the brushes are no problem in your carry-on. Chapstick is fine, too. I usually carry a tube in my pocket right through the checkpoint.
Tweezers are fine, provided they not really sharp, and are small.
I would put both your mascara and your eye-liner into the plastic bag for liquid items - see more below.

Liquid makeup (like the foundation), and gels, taken aboard in your carry-on bag are subject to the 3-1-1 rule

The following is pasted in from the TSA site:
All liquids, gels and aerosols must be in three-ounce or smaller containers. Larger containers that are half-full or toothpaste tubes rolled up are not allowed. Each container must be three ounces or smaller. [Note that elsewhere they say 3.4 ounces - ??]

All liquids, gels and aerosols must be placed in a single, quart-size, zip-top, clear plastic bag. Gallon size bags or bags that are not zip-top such as fold-over sandwich bags are not allowed. Each traveler can use only one, quart-size, zip-top, clear plastic bag.

Each traveler must remove their quart-sized plastic, zip-top bag from their carry-on and place it in a bin or on the conveyor belt for X-ray screening. X-raying separately will allow TSA security officers to more easily examine the declared items.

To ensure the health and welfare of certain air travelers, in the absence of suspicious activity or items, greater than 3 ounces of the following liquids, gels and aerosols are permitted through the security checkpoint in reasonable quantities for the duration of your itinerary (all exceptions must be presented to the security officer in front of the checkpoint):

* Baby formula, breast milk, and juice if a baby or small child is traveling;
* All prescription and over-the-counter medications (liquids, gels, and aerosols) including KY jelly, eye drops, and saline solution for medical purposes;
* Liquids including water, juice, or liquid nutrition or gels for passengers with a disability or medical condition;
* Life-support and life-sustaining liquids such as bone marrow, blood products, and transplant organs;
* Items used to augment the body for medical or cosmetic reasons such as mastectomy products, prosthetic breasts, bras or shells containing gels, saline solution, or other liquids; and,
* Frozen gels/liquids are permitted if required to cool medical and infant/child exemptions. Frozen gels/liquids for any other purpose are not permitted.

You are allowed reasonable amounts over 3 ounces of the items above in your carry-on baggage, but you will need to perform the following:

1. Separate these items from the liquids, gels, and aerosols in your quart-size and zip-top bag.
2. Declare you have the items to one of our Security Officers at the security checkpoint.
3. Present these items for additional inspection once reaching the X-ray. These items are subject to additional screening.

We have also taken steps to ensure the security boarding areas after you pass through our security checkpoints. Therefore, any liquid, gel, or aerosol purchased (such as coffee or soda) in the secure area after you process through a security checkpoint is allowed aboard your plane.
