How many bags can I take on a flight to Spain on Continental Airlines?

I'm going to Spain in less than a month and I want to double check how much luggage I'm allowed and some advice for a first time international flyer.

The number of bags you take is unlimited, but depending where you are flying from you will have to pay for each bag after the 2nd. If you are flying within Europe, then the first 2 bags will be free, if you are flying from the USA to Spain then you might have to pay for the 2nd bag, but only $15-$25. I am also an International Traveler and in my experience, having 1 or 2 well packed bags per person is enough.
Since this is your first time, you will want well packed carryons as well. In my experience most airlines allow 2 per person. Airline websites all say "one that will fit in the overhead compartment and one that will fit under the seat in front of you". Or "one small suitcase and one purse size bag". The sizes all vary, I use a small suitcase to put overhead and a briefcase for in front of me. Now, on the off chance that your luggage is lost (a very good reason to have 1 suitcase per person, depending how long you're going) you should have enough spare clothes for a couple days in the carryon that goes overhead. In the carryon in front of you, have food (crackers, cookies, nuts, anything nonperishable and no drinks), camera, MP3 or IPod, your passport and all documents related to this trip (hotel name and address), your money- anything you need easy access to on the plane or in the airport. And never be afraid to ask an airport employee for help. If the Flight Screens in the airport are unclear, then ask someone to help you, that is what they are there for and you don't want your first trip to Spain ruined because you were unsure or which gate to go to. Don't get too chummy with other travelers on the plane or in the airport if you are traveling alone. I flew to France alone in August and a stop was in Dublin, there were Irish buddies going around the plane asking the single girls "my row is too crowded, could I sit with you?" and would chat them up- I was in the single girl category and it was SO annoying, I couldn't wait to land! So just be cautious and prepared and you will be fine
