Hand Luggage Bags

Hand luggage refers to the bag that you take onto the plane with you. Due to airport security and airline restrictions, however, it is no longer possible to just take the largest bag that you can find.
You now need to check and double check not just what you carry in your bag, but its exact dimensions and weight too.
I'm sure that you will agree that air travel has become a potentially stressful experience. Regardless of whether you are afraid of flying or not, just getting on the plane now requires extra time and patience.
This is why it is so important that your hand luggage meets the requirements of your airline. You can be sure that if your bag is too big, you will not be able to take it with you. You will be pulled to one side, delayed and frustrated!

The Department for Transport has set the maximum size for an item of hand baggage as 56cm x 45cm x 25cm, including wheels, handles and external pockets. This is just a guideline, however, and you are strongly advised to check with your individual airline, as most of them have their own rules which must be adhered to.

If you are buying  new hand luggage bags, you may want to give some thought to the type of hand luggage that best suits your needs. A simple holdall may be right for you, but if you intend to fill your bag to the maximum weight that you are allowed, you may prefer a cabin trolley bag, for example.

Whatever you choose, make sure that you are able to lift it into the overhead locker. Quite often, people choose not to pay to take a suitcase on holiday with them, as checking in a case to go in the hold can cost up to £30. They make the mistake of taking hand luggage which is innapropriate and too heavy. This means delays for everyone, stress and frustration airline staff and passengers alike, which is not the best way to start your holiday.
A little research and sensible packing can avoid these problems.
