have you ever taken a britax boulevard on the plane?

we are travelling with our one year old soon on lap but we need to take the carseat with us because we are taking a shuttle to the airport so we have to have the carseat, we don't need it in the plane but we need it in our destination and before we leave our departure city. it seems too big , i know it is approved to fly in, it just seems too big and i'm afraid if i take it in teh plane they will take it from me and send it with luggage and destroy it.
i know there is bad for carseat but what if it breaks, i am not worried about it getting dirty, but it has side protection near the head and i'm afraid they will get damaged etc.
any advice please.
ps: it is an expensive carseat and brand new

I have flown with a Boulevard seat. You can get an awesome rolling cart that the seat attaches to for in the airport so it's not so bulky to carry and you can strap your child into it. You need to purchase a separate ticket for your baby so you can use the seat on the plane. It is approved to fly in, but that's with your baby sitting in it. It's not considered a carry on, so you won't be able to take it on board unless you are using it for your child to sit in. I'd call the airline and book another ticket for your baby and then have one of the parents sit alone for the flight while the other sits with baby, or see if there's a way someone will let you all sit together. It's always safer for baby to be in a seat instead of passed around on laps.

If you do want to check it, you can purchase a car seat cover bag for it so it won't get filthy, but they will be tossing it around and there is a high likelihood it will get damaged. Even if you can't see damage, anytime it is dropped, etc, it causes damage to the seat. I'd just purchase the ticket to save yourself the 500 bucks to replace the seat twice--once when you get to your destination, once when you get home.
