14 hour greyhound bus trip, need tips/ help?

I am traveling from Hamilton, On to Indianapolis, IN. This is my first time and was wondering what advice I can get for traveling on their buses. I have heard some horror stories, and am quite scared but the ticket is paid for and I leave in the morning. I have one larger sized luggage on wheels and a small luggage on will I plan to put on the bottom of the bus. I also have a laptop and purse I'm taking for carry on. I will be alone, and am scared about that. I have three layovers, and they are London, On, Detroit, MI, and Dayton, OH. I am scared about Detroit and Michigan. I live in Indianapolis, so I am used to that city. I have kinda heavy luggage and do they weigh that, does it cost any for luggage? I'm pretty nervous and need advice asap.
