Royal Carribbean International cruises. I need to know about their luggage tags
Im going on a med cruise on 16th August. RCI have sent me their luggage tags but im not sure when to put them on. Do you put them on before you check in for the flight, or at bagge reclaim in rome? Or at the pier? Any other details would be great. Thanks.
I have been on many cruises including several RC. You can put the tags on any time between before you leave home for the airport and when you get to the pier. Its OK to have them on when you check your luggage and that's what you want to do if you have purchased the cruise line's transfers between the airport and the ship. (Since you are cruising out of Rome that's what I recommend) That's because many times the cruise line will meet you at the airport and take your luggage there to put on the ship. So the tags need to be on the luggage already. If you are taking a taxi from the ship to the airport you should put the tags on when you claim your bags at the airport so that when you get to the pier the porters can just take them. You will delay them and your boarding if you have to take time to put the tags on at the pier.
If you put the tags on at home and one or more gets ripped off or damaged, just ask at the pier for another and they will make one with your cabin number on it.
The ride from Rome to the port in Civitavecchia is about an hour, so be sure to use the restroom before boarding your bus or taxi.
Its best to pack using soft sided luggage as it stores better under your cabin beds. Take a small carry-on bag for the last night of the cruise. On the last evening you will be required to put your luggage outside your cabin by about 2:00 AM so that they can start taking it down to the lower deck for offloading the next morning. So you will need a small bag for your toiletries and your clothes that you sleep in.
If you want to use the pool, hot tub, or gym as soon as you get on the ship, take clothes for these in your carry on bag because your checked luggage will likely not get to your room until much later in the afternoon, maybe by @ 6:00 PM.
