Which fishing reel is better?

I am planning to travel and would like to get one with me. But I need something small enough to fit in regular luggage, at the same time reliable and functional and capable to handle anything up to 5 pounds (the more the better ) for freshwater fishing.
If you have better ideas and suggestions for better reels, I will appreciate it.

I have had a spin cast daiwa set-up for almost thirty years they are available as a spin cast and spinning. You must note which is the type you want when buying them but they are available for small fish only. Backpacking in the Sierras for trout - excellent, perch, bluegill and crappie excellent all bigger fish might be suspect though. I keep mine under my back seat you know, just in case I am on a drive and see water that needs me to fish it.
Though I like one piece rods almost exclusively, I have four fly rods and the mini cast. NEVER buy a telescoping rod, they are a gimmick and junk.
