Would I Be Allowed To Take A Piece Of Jewellery That Resembles A Weapon Onto A Plane?
I'm going on a plane trip this summer, and I have a really cool necklace I want to bring to show the people I'll be visiting. The necklace is made of stainless steel, and it's just a regular chain with a pendant that was made to look like a bullet. The bullet is about one inch long, and roughly the same circumference as a pencil. The bullet can unscrew from the circular bit that keeps it on the chain, but it's hollow inside. Since I love this necklace and wear it close to every day, I wouldn't want to get it taken away, but I still really want to show it to the people I'll be visiting.
I live in Canada and will be traveling in Canada, if that makes any difference.
Also, would it make a difference if it was put in my luggage and not my carry on?
It will be fine. The worst that can happen is that the CATSA will x-ray your luggage and notice something unusual. Then they would probably just do a hand search to find out what it was and that will be that. Most likely their screening technology is advanced like the US's and it will just pass through a massive X-ray machine and only alarm if you have certain chemical compounds in your bag. If your bag didn't alarm, no one would search it. Either way, you can bring it!
