Travel Items?

Ok, nearing the end of our 8th grade year, us 8th graders get to go to Washington D.C, this thing is this my first time traveling out of state. Iv'e already got my luggage with a lock and a tote for on the bus and know what im going to pack an all that. the problem is that i dont have anything to carry all the things things that im going to have to have with me at all times like my cell phone, camera(for photos) spare batteries, water, and i think thats all of it, not sure ill have to check on that later. Anyways i don't want to have to carry around a tote all day, any suggestions about what acessories that I can carry?

Why don't you get a small backpack? Not a big one like for school, but a tiny one that will hold just a few things (camera, water bottle, guide book, etc.). My husband has a small black backpack from Eddie Bauer that he loves for travel. And it folds flat while not in use, so you can stuff it in your tote bag.

Have a good time in DC!! I used to live there and love it. The monuments are fun.

Where can we store our luggage after a cruise from Ft Lauderdale when we get off of the ship? Any ideas?

We are looking for ideas for luggage storage as we have about five hours before we need to head to the airport and the cruise line states they DO NOT provide storage after we depart. We are a group of 8 and are sure to have many bags!!!

The cruise port is only about 15 minutes from the airport; they are on opposite sides of I-95. So find a cheap hotel room near the airport and store your luggage there until you are ready to go to the airport. You may even find one that has a free shuttle. There are a bunch of hotels near by like Hampton Inn, Motel 6, Best Western and Holiday Inn. You would have to reserve for the last night of your cruise and tell them you will not get there until the day the cruise ends and that you want a late checkout. Put everyone's bags in there and go. Then before its time for the airport everyone has a place to freshen up ( with 8 people you may want two rooms).

Best way from Heathrow to Earl's Court in the morning with Luggage?

My flight arrives at Heathrow Airport at 7 AM on a Monday morning. I know that the Piccadilly Line runs directly to Earl's Court but I'm concerned about my luggage and the rush hour. Is the Piccadilly Line the best way to go, or is there another, reasonable option? I plan to carry one large roller suitcase and a laptop bag.

Assuming you're American, it will take a long time to get through immigration as the non-EU passport control queue is always enormous at that time in the morning, what with all the transatlantic flights all arriving about the same time. (We EU citizens get through a lot faster!) By the time you've done that and retrieved the baggage, which sometimes takes a while to arrive as Heathrow is enormous, it may well be 8 am or later and the rush hour may be tailing off.

As Heathrow is at the end of the line you'll be very likely to get a seat and Piccadilly line trains are specifically built with luggage areas. The whole fleet was replaced when the line was extended to Heathrow for this reason. To be honest it's by far the cheapest option and I'd try it - you get to see a slice of London commuting life as well!

A taxi would cost in the region of £50 as the journey is 12 miles. Only the London black cabs are permitted to use the exclusive bus lane on the M4, and they are the most expensive. The drive would probably be more frustrating and take longer - rush hour traffic into London in the mornings has to be seen to be believed.

There are also the Heathrow Express and Heathrow Connect trains, but they take you to Paddington and then you'd have to get round to Earl's Court. This would involve taking the Circle or Hammersmith & City lines one stop to Edgware Road, then changing to the District line.

All in all if I were you I'd take the Piccadilly.
