maximum carrying weight on your average mountain bicycle?

i am using an aluminium framed bike for shopping trips with panniers and luggage rack at the rear, the other day i rode to the loca market and loaded with 10lbs of spuds and another 15 lbs of various veg and fruit . I then stopped at the supermarket and loaded yet more shopping on by tying bags to the luggage rack , i then stopped at the offi and loaded on a large bottle of cider and four cans of beer. I would estimate the total load at around the 90 lbs mark plus myself weighing 19stone , the bike rode fine and i made it home in one piece . I was wondering however wether this damages the bike or wether there is a maximum formula the average ally frame will take ?

Ask the bike manufacturer. Engineers design bikes to be able to handle certain loads and stresses. They could tell you what your bike should be able to handle.

Target has basically the same backpack, same quality called the JanSport Supermax.

My son has used both and they are very good. They fit quite a bit of stuff. For 8th, my son had three 1.5" binders, plus at least 3 textbooks in the main pocket. There is another pocket he put folders and paperbacks in. This year he has a huge 3" binder and 4 - 5 textbooks he needs to carry in the main pocket, can only go to his locker at lunch. It's very sturdy. I can barely lift the stupid thing when it's full!

The Rover Twin Gear Bag, in sizes 68 and 80 litres, carries like a gear bag and looks like a gear bag, so it must be a gear bag? Well, no, it isn’t. Able to hold far more than a regular gear bag and with a central zip that allows the top and bottom to be packed separately, this gear bag has had free flow in line skate wheels, as well as, a dual position push button trolley system incorporated into its design. In order to take full advantage of the huge capacity of a regular gear bag similar in size to this product would take the carrying strength of Hercules. For ease of removal from car boot, airport carousel or train, the Rover twin has a central handle. Once clear, and to save strain on back, shoulders, arm and neck, the gear bag can be easily wheeled away. Boombox and laptop allowed in carry on luggage?

I'm going to be travelling from North America to India soon. I was hoping to bring my laptop and a small stereo/boombox in my carry on knapsack. I know laptops are allowed through airport security, but will both be allowed at the same time? Is there any restrictions on the number or size of electronic items you're allowed to carry on the plane at one time?
